Indian skipper Virat Kohli hits 27th Test century and in the process he became the first Indian batsman to score a ton in the Day-Night Test format.
Kohli reached the landmark with a double off spinner Taijul Islam in the 68th over. He scored his hundred off 159 balls, which included 12 fours.
Earlier, Ajinkya Rahane gave away his after scoring his 22nd half-century on Day 2 of the landmark Pink Ball Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, 23 November.
Rahane was looking in a very good touch while batting as he scored 51 off 69 with seven boundaries to his name. He continued his good run that started in the West Indies this year. This was his seventh fifty-plus score since the start of the World Test Championship.
But just when all things were looking good for the hosts, Rahane handed an easy catch to Ebadat Hossain, ending a 99 runs stand between him and Kohli.
India had it all in control as they dominated the first day of their maiden day-night Test against Bangladesh.
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first on a seamer friendly wicket. What followed was a fast bowling spectacle by the Indian pace attack.
Umesh Yadav continued his good form and took 3 for 29 in 7 overs while Mohammed Shami was on point with his deadly cutters and bagged 2 for 36 in 10.3 overs.
Having lost both the openers early on in the innings, Pujara and Kohli took on the responsibility to build a good partnership for India. Both of them stitched a crucial 94 run-partnership for the third wicket. Pujara scored his 24th Test fifty but soon fell on 55, but the Indian skipper continued with his sublime form to take India forward.
Kohli brought up his 23rd fifty in the longer format against Bangladesh in the 40th over and is looking good on 89.
